Ice Machine

Sub-freezing temperatures can't stop fast moving water as it falls over rocks, but the water's mist can't change the laws of physics.
At Dry Falls near Highlands, NC, days of freezing temperatures have changed the landscape, especially the walkway that winds behind the falls.
The relentless mist settles on every surface, enhancing the features that popularize this destination.
For the time being, access to the falls is restricted. No one is allowed to venture close enough to enjoy the view from behind the cascade. An observation deck provides the only view. From a distance, the view is staggering.
